Re: synodontis petricola or lucipinnis
Richard is far better at IDs than me, but I would say S. Petricola at this point, because the head spots are not noticeably smaller than those on the body.

Re: synodontis petricola or lucipinnis
The body spots are fairly rounded & fairly regular. At the size you state, if they were Lucipinnis I'd expect to see much more irregular blotch type markings, therefore I'd suggest these are immature petricola - one of the regional variations. They do seem to be slower growers than Lucipinnismarco0raimondo wrote:about 6-8 cmRichard B wrote:What size are they currently?

I am going to be disagreeing with Richard on this one, I think lucipinnis.

Re: synodontis petricola or lucipinnis
They could well be & probability says they are likely to be but at 6-8cm SL or TL I'd expect slightly more irregular blotching. On the lucipinnis I see regularly the rounder blotch/spots become more irregular at about 4-6cm SL & the growth rate seems faster on Luci's than Petricola - I'm pretty open on these & I suppose mostly time will tellBirger wrote:I am going to be disagreeing with Richard on this one, I think lucipinnis.
