Corydoras Sterbia with light patches on its head.

Post by KGlo »

One of my Corydoras Sterbai has discolored lighter patches it's head and I was wondering if anyone knows what it might be. He's in my 90 gallon Amazon tank, temperature is about 78 degrees, Kh is 40ppm, Gh is 120ppm, and ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites are all zero.

I'll upload a picture as soon as I can.

I've seen these in my C Sterbai a couple of times. It looks fungal as in due course the discoloured patches on their foreheads become 'tufty'. My corys recovered without any treatment other than keeping the tank clean, but more recently a similar thing appeared on the left flank of my juvenile L014 which is kept in the same tank. In that case I used an antifungal medication containing malachite green and copper and it cleared up pretty quickly. The copper killed my little Centromochlus perugia, though :(.

Thanks! I didn't do any treatment and left it for a week and it seems to have cleared up! That's too bad about your Centromochlus perugia.
