Spotted grey Synodontis ID help
Hi guys! I just bought an orphaned spotted Synodontis from my LFS. S/he's about 7" long. Could be macropunctatus (hard to tell when the specimen image is preserved), nigrita (if it doesn't grow), ocellifer, or zambezensis, but I don't rightly have an idea. I'm not worried about the size too terribly much as I have a 90gal, but it would be good to know that I don't have a longirostris.
Thanks in advance!
(I'll post more pictures once it settles in a bit. Going well so far!)

Don't worry, this is clearly no S longirostris ;)
My vision is that this could very well be a S ocellifer

Ok, thanks! That was what I was guessing after the secondary Google image search. I'll run with that one unless someone says differently.Tanganyikafreak wrote:My vision is that this could very well be a S ocellifer

Re: Spotted grey Synodontis ID help
Sorry, it is none of the above, this is a hybrid.
The humeral is not right for S. ocellifer as well as the size of the spots

Re: Spotted grey Synodontis ID help
Whilst it is a hybrid & we can't be certain of which species were used to create it, it'd be a safe bet to say it will at least reach 6" SL (body size, without tail)& may well get a couple of inches longer

Okie doke. So, at about 7", he might get 1 or 2" bigger, but not much?
I'll keep everyone posted. Looks like only one other user has any.
