Does L183 need wood?

Post by Joost »

Hi all,

At the moment I am babysitting a large number of fish for a friend of mine. They are all together in a 1000 liter tank. Among them are some L183. I would like to put those in a separate tank to try to breed them. From their poop I can see that they have been eating wood. Is that something that they really need? Do I have to supply them with some wood in the breeding setup?

Thnx :)

It couldn't hurt. If you can tell they're eating it then I say you should put wood in.

Mine is constantly on the wood, so yes. She barely leaves the driftwood. I can count the few times I've seen her on the glass or eating at the zucchini on one hand. They definitely benefit from it.
