Possibly Hypancistrus contradens or Baryancistrus sp. "L 142".

I'd go with , doesn't quite look like a Baryancistrus.

Any particular is not considered? (I confess I'm rubbish at identifying white-spotted Hypancistrus, just asking to learn for myself, really).

why not . In the first picture, the head to dorsal length looks much longer than in typical hypans, which made me think . I know these are REALLY RARE, so it might not be, but just putting another 1cent into the pot!

Better pictures would help indeed, it's got large white spots but the pattern does look different than what I would normally expect on H. contradens.

A picture showing the mouth clearly against the glass will help quite a bit.

I would say it is a young Baryancistrus LDA.33 (same than L142). http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/_s ... cies_id=31

Thanks.

For some reason, looking at all the pictures for both, I tend to think a young Baryancistrus LDA.33 (L142) seems more likely.

I think it´s Baryancistrus L-142:because in young specimens of H. contradens and inspector the white spots can´t be so big. It´s my opinion...

like that at adult:

But it has the dentition (teeth) of a Hypancistrus. Baryancistrus have large, rectangular pads places across the mouth [across the body] with lots of teeth (for scraping algae and little creatures in the algae from stones etc), where Hypancistrus has narrow rows that run lengthwise in the mouth [so from head to tail], for tearing meaty food apart.
