So, there has been some criticism of the number of images in this topic. In the past I encouraged Alex to post pics of the spawning. Perhaps there are too many for each post, but I guess that is better than none in my view.

I renamed the topic to alert the casual surfer to the content a while back.

It might have been better if they were attached to the post rather than hotlinked but, I don't have any objection to so many beyond it makes it a little hard to find the captions.

I sopose that this time Hypancistrus contradens spawned not Hypancistrus sp.L201, but I'm not sure for 100% so I call them L201.

Would be interesting to see such a tread with so many pictures of a H. Contradens spawn. I would be very interested in color and marking development of the H. Contradens fry to L201 fry.

I had a breeding group of L201 and fry development you show here is exactly the same as I experienced.

I really enjoyed this thread. What I'd like to know is how do people manage to get these great, close-up, shots of what's inside the caves? These shots of the fry in the caves are fantastic. And I've seen many people post good, clear shots of a male guarding a clutch in a cave. Are the caves removed to a separate container making it easier to position them or reflect light into them?

I have a group of 5 that I have been growing out. Then Friday evening I noticed a small number of good size fry in the tank and today it looks like a male has a female trapped in the cave.

My first spawn with a Hypancistrus.

My Hypancistrus sp. L201 spawned again. The male closed the female in the cave for three days, and yesterday he was already sitting on the eggs.
