Trachelyopterus sp from Peru

Post by The.Dark.One »

I know this genus is notorious to ID. These are around 8cm TL, and what I consider to be a young male and female. They were imported from Peru by Pier Aquatics. Any ideas?

Hi Martin

A well respected auchenipterid ichthyologist thinks they may be T. striatulus though if they are actually from Peru this ID may be a problem.

I have purchased something very simialr to this just recently from a local outlet who had them listed as Woodcat.
" Troy McLure? I thought you said he was dead?"
"No, I said he sleeps with the fishes."

Hi

yeah this is a common name for this family of catfish.

What size are yours? Which shop?

They came from Aylesford aquatics and are about the same size as yours. I beleive they got them from Neil Hardy.
