Oxygen Levels
Hi
I had a powerhead running with a eheim 2222 with tank temperature running at 29 deg.
The only way i could get enough oxygen in the water was to run the powerhead near the surface. This meant that the powerhead ocassionally sucked in air from the surface which resulted in it breaking. That was the only way i could ensure the fish weren't gasping for air at the surface.
I now run a eheim 2012 at the top without a powerhead. I was wondering how you guys run a powerhead for current and still keep up the O2, short of running three devices?
I now run the 2222 for water clearity and 2012 for 02 diffussion. But lack big time current.

Ronnie,
What powerhead are you running? All of the powerheads I am aware of come with a venturi device. This device is key or extra O2 and for keeping the tank's temp down.

Hi!
Well as Shane said, powerhead are usually sold with a venturi device, which can consist into a small air tube and a little deal for fixing it on the exit.
You can also put the exit at water level or even put it above the water level.
Personnally I like the Venturi system best!
Cheers

Hmmm venturi system.
Mine was a Rio powerhead and the only attachment that came with it was like a funnell shaped bit that made the pressure more in a certain direction.
My eheim 2222 has a spray bar at the surface of the water.
Does anyone have zebras and are not running a powerhead or am i alone in this one?
If i am then i will buy a powerhead.
