New clutch of eggs while fry still in cave?
Is it common for plecos to lay a clutch of eggs in a cave that contains fry?
I have a male L134 that has fry that are about 10 days post hatch, I just had a peek and there is a new clutch of eggs in there with the Dad and fry. Is this a common occurrence? Any need to worry?

It does happen and is nothing to worry about...some ancistrus take it to the extreme and have been known to have many different clutches going at once.

EDIT:Just had a look at your other thread, looks like everyone is happy and healthy in that tank...no wonder that you have multiple clutches.

I have had a male Bushy Nose guarding two spawns many times.
I have only had that happen once with L134's.

Dave, our L66 king tiger male once had new eggs, wigglers, and fry in a cave. It does happen quite often especially they like that cave.

Re: New clutch of eggs while fry still in cave?
This has happened with my zebra plecos. During the last regular spawn, the "beta" female spawned with the "alpha" male while he had young fry from the "alpha" female. I noticed this when I pulled the "alpha" female's fry at the two week mark like I usually do and there was another small clutch of eggs in this cave. I saw him flirting with the "beta" female, but wasn't sure it would lead to anything. When I pulled the "beta" female fry, a large clutch from the "alpha" female was in the cave. So technically, this has happened twice with my breeding colony.
When I kept ABNs, I had 1M/7F. He was a busy guy. He would normally have 2-3 clutches going at a time. I eventually had to separate him from the females as he looked so skinny I was worried he wasn't having enough down time to recuperate.

I haven't met too many plecos I didn't like...

When I had that trio of large Albino Bushy Nose the two females would spawn consecutively which resulted in an awful lot of BN fry.
I found the larval BN made good Discus snacks.

I need some of those breeding hormones in my tank, Dave!
