again leporacanthicus galaxias
I was hoping to collect more info about their way to live in aquarium, but it seems that I am the only one having the Vampire Pleco. Well I can add that he is a GREAT digger and he's going to destroy all the plants! He seems to be healthy and the aquarium has never been so clean from remained food. He also destroyed the few snails that were around. He passed the first days hidden under a wood, but now he is always visible and doesn't seem scared if I make some maintenance...My two big discus after a couple of days of alert status, accepted him and he never bothered them! He also seems to stay ok at 29/30 degrees C°. Allelujah! I called him 007!
have a nice week all! Giovanna

I have 3 Leporacanthicus galaxias. As you found they dig a lot and uproot plants.Despite what some says, mine are not territorial at all. They are about 4,5".I have them two to three months now and they come out of their caves frequently, especialy when feeding time arrives. As you may know they are primarilly carnivore,so you should feed them protein rich foods with two times a week feeding them algae tablets.Be sure that their water is highly oxygented.Hope i helped a little.
Good luck

I don't have one yet but in my reading they are one of the ones mentioned as liking the discus slime coat. No one I personally know has ever had any plec take on a healthy fish but ??? Best of luck with him/her and I'm VERY jealous!! I guess it's time for that next tank!!

Plecos are the true centerpieces of any aquarium. Everything else just swims around them!!

Hi Flyin....well I just wish that my pleco won't do that to my discus otherwise I will have to take him off the tank ....I bought the discus 2 years ago and they were so small like a coin and now I'm very affectionate to them! They are domestic enough and I almost can pet them! Till now the pleco didn't make anything like that but I wonder if during the night....oh my! What a stress!
But anyway thanks for the advice! Giovanna
