Post pictures of your beloved catfish aquaria here. Also good for pictures of your (cat)fish rooms or equipment discussions. If you are posting pictures of identified catfish, please do so in the appropriate husbandry and reproduction forum above.
Sweet!! Such high quality pics - it's like you took us there with you! Thanks. What a place. I'd even consider a janitor job there so long as they'd let me be a resident too.
Thanks for sharing. I wish I knew the aquarium at the Artis Zoo was that impressive... I would have went when I was in Amsterdam a few months ago. Looks like I'll have something new to do the next time I go.
Richard, Viktor, Scleropages and Andy, thanks for the compliments!
I can stay there for hours...It's one of my favourite places at the Zoo together with the reptilehouse where it's warm in wintertime!
Yes, it's a dream job to work there!
I di think the giraffe cat might like more open substrate than what it appears to have...
I think this giraffe cat should be Auchenoglanis wittei according to the new revision.
Especially the second pic would be great for the new entry of this species in the Cat-eLog if you feel so inclined.
Nice pics. Beautiful pics of the Panaque Maccus! I hope my four specimen grow up to be as beautiful as the one male in the picture! Great pics for adding to the Cat-e-log.
Yes, these are some great looking tanks and it takes some skill to keep them looking this good. I especially liked seeing the surrounding areas - such a nice change to the identikit public aquaria which are welcome but not, for me at least, quite as good as the well kept older ones. I really miss Edinburgh Zoo's public aquarium even though it shut its doors permanently when I was a young boy.
I especially liked the "urban" tank which looked like it was on the side of the car park and also the Myxocyprinus.
You didn't make pics of the tank with arowana's in there? I remember that one looking quite cramped (far right corner in one of the halls, the tank is one of those 100x100x100 or so tanks).
Last sundaymorning i've been to the Artis Aquaria, some new fish i've seen, but most of the tanks looks quit the same as my last visit. But here are some pics:
Interests: African catfishes and oddballs, Madagascar cichlids; stoner doom and heavy rock; old school choppers and riding them, fantasy novels, travelling and diving in the tropics and all things nature.
did you see the huge Red Tails and the Oxydoras too?
they are in the same tank as the Pirarucu.
I was there at the end of august.....I also got a bit around there and the tanks are a LOT bigger then it looks like; it's the thick glass that makes em look really small.
a tank that looks like it's less than a meter from front window to the back is at least 2.
I am back in Amsterdam in a few weeks and hope to have enugh spare time to visit Artis Zoo again. I really want to see the Arapaima again. They were about 72" last time I was there.
