I only asked because it says 'A members area where you can introduce yourself, discuss anything outwith catfish and generally get to know each other.', so just wanted to check.

At the end of the day, if there is a post which people aren't interested in or think is not worthy of space they'll tell you!!!

However, i think we're an ameniable bunch & i like to know a few other things - like the weather in the US, how much snowfall there was in Canada last night, how someone's dog is etc - it helps build a rapport & strengthens the bonds between us :D

Any banal drivel & we'll soon let you know

Actually, I'm not certain whether I agree

I might not be interested in the topic, but others could see this different. Therefore, I would not comment on a non-intersting topic, related to catfish or not

And whether a topic, any topic, is worthy of the space they need, is something for Jools te decide

Point one - i was thinking of some of the spam that occsasionally comes in - people do quickly voice their disinterest etc, but your point is very valid on some other valuable but not-interesting-to-everyone posts - i stand corrected

Point two - Jools is el supremo, the big kahuna, lord of all Planet catfish & rightly so. His word is the be all & end all & everyone should recognise & respect this - i certainly do.

I was perhaps thinking of specific examples that came to mind & should applied a more generalistic view to the question before posting - oops

Canada

ugh....6 months of winter brrrrrrr

the only things about Canada I know of involve lumberjacks, dinosaur digging grounds in Alberta and don't eat the yellow snow

although the last one might count in Alaska as well

I am now putting you on notice...this is turning to banal drivel

Not eating yellow snow is just common sense but if the visiting euro's want to keep trying it who is to stop them :D

And I wish winter only lasted six months here, we do get warm summer weather but at one time or another I have seen snow in every month of the year.

Just at the very end of summer here, some of the hottest days on record. The day the bushfires ( ) started was 49c or thereabouts, I got an aquarium thermometer up to 53c in the sun. Anyone else had weird weather? Aside from the hottests days ever, the wheather's sort of been up and down, hot & cold...instead of just 35-38c for weeks on end here.

Hi Shaun,
Anyone else had weird weather?
Winter was normal here (it's spring now, opposite you) but we set a rainfall record last year. Almost every day of the summer it rained at least once. I've got a massive garden and watered maybe twice? The Great Lakes are way down and all that rain only raised the water table by next to nothing :(
I would normally love those conditions but it's not a good sign.

Those bushfires were scary  , even our firefighter experts that were there at the same time doing lectures thought they were insane. We have really different conditions when it comes to monster fires. I listen to Radio Australia at night and it was tough to hear everyone going through that. :(

So, Martin S, what is this project of yours that you want to tell us about?

BTW, I always thought the expression "discuss anything outwith catfish" was a typo.
It doesn't really make sense to me.

It was 80 degrees with beautiful sun here today! Cannot wait for the 100's! :D

Shaun, those fires over there were wicked scary just to hear about. Wishing everyone the best.

Saw a great picture of a fireman feeding bottled water to a koala, and one of a koala being given a big bowl of water to sit in, which he gladly did.

Who's/what's in the pond?

My only new spring visitor was a pileated woodpecker. First one I've even seen and have ben birding for quite a while. He must have been shoved out of the construction area down the street. OMG! They're HUGE! (safely off topic  )

I love Canada - it's a great place!!!

I hope we keep this up. It's nice to forum on other stuff too....

Weather here in L.A. is boring as usual. Same old same old. If it aint sunny everyday - the weather men say it's storming. Those poor Australian animals - I just died hearing those stories of those poor animals being burned - hate fire starters....hate them.....nothing worse than hurting a poor defenseless innocent animal and all animals are innocent.

Well, I'm sorry I wrote that! I just found out that "outwith" is a Scottish expression that means "outside" or "beyond." I know a little Scots Gaelic and thought I knew a bit about Scotland, but I did not know this expression.

Sorry if I sounded ignorant before; I just want to set the record straight now.

Thanks for the clarification, I had always wondered about that one too. And PS that 'Ignorant' can be taken that we just haven't learned a particular thing yet. :d If we knew everything, we'd just be boring and would have no reason to come here.

Please DO NOT change it! :YMPRAY: I beg of you! Now that I know what it means, I intend to use it occasionally. I love Scottish expressions. I often say, "Come away in." to guests.
