L10a red lizard cat breeding group fs (WI,USA)
I decided it's too hot in my fishroom to keep these guys happy so I'd like to find them a good home. I have two males and three females that have been breeding but scattering their eggs. You might want to try closed ended tubes, or maybe they're just kicking the eggs out because they're too hot. Idk.
Anyway, I'd like $75 for the group, which is what I paid two years ago for them as 2"ers. I will not split them. I also will not ship because it is too cold. Pickup in central WI or I will deliver for gas money if I can find the time. I'll be in Madison, WI this coming weekend so a meetup is possible there. I will also trade towards a 125 g tank. No pics - they're lizard cats and we all know what they look like. Pm any questions.
Edit: I can throw in their potted sword plants and some blue or cherry shrimp for another $10.

Andy,
You are offering your group of L10a's at bargain basement prices.
I wonder now if the reason I had trouble breeding a group of 6 was because my fish all have to be heat loving species especially to survive the summer? That is why I mainly keep and breed L134 and various Hypancistrus spp and wild Discus. They all love warm water.

Thanks Larry,
Times are tough and I just want the fish to get a good home. I really like them and they're very active and cool, but they're better off in someone else's hands. My fishroom is about 86f right now since I cranked up the dehumidifier to combat some mold upstairs. The hypans and frogs love it, but the lizards and my kitumba frontosa aren't too happy.

Man I wish you were shipping!
But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I will be unique in all the world..... You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

whats the tank temp to make those guys happy? I don't mind giving this sp a shot for breeding as I'll be happy to pick them up in madison over the weekend if that has to come to that and give me more reason to spilt my tanks into sectionals and not focus on the decor but focus on breeding projects.
THAT is if Nate doesnt beat me to em

Re: L10a red lizard cat breeding group fs (WI,USA)
I ended up losing a pair this week so I didn't bring them to Madison to sell. I still have a trio, but there might be something else wrong with them besides temperature so I'm going to hang onto them for now. I eventually still want to move them out, but not until i know they're stable. Sorry everyone.

Re: L10a red lizard cat breeding group fs (WI,USA)
I got the impression from the group of 6 I had for 18 months that they actually preferred the same warm temperatures I use for Discus and my plecos which is 84 to 86*F. I lost mine by mistakenly adding SeaChem Acid Buffer instead of the Neutral Regulator to dechlor the tap water during a water change. I did it to a lot of tanks in that instance and lost a lot of fish. In the darkened fish area the different labels on the same type of plstic bottles didn't stand out. I usually use Prime but couldn't find the Prime.
They have such a mysterious origin so there isn't any good reference point other than how well they seem to act. Since mine never spawned I wondered if I hadn't been keeping them too warm after reading what temperatures your L10a spawned. Bsut I also thought it was mostly because they were still young. That was before I spawned my F1 Sturisoma at only 10 month old. I'm pretty sure now that they were at least 2 years old when I killed them and if they are anything like Sturisoma, they should be able to begin spawning by at least one year old. It's the small fancy plecos which seem to need about 3 years to mature.
Bummer to have lost some. The hobby in the USA could stand to benefit from more breeders of L10a. They aren't the easiest catfish to find when you're looking for them.

Re: L10a red lizard cat breeding group fs (WI,USA)
Mine spawned at 78-80 and stopped when it got higher than that. At 84 they left their tubes and headed for the sword plant to rest in the leaves. At 78 the females were very aggressive about trying to get into the males' caves. I really hope the last three stabilize so someone can breed them.
