Cory hatch "tank?"
Looking into breeding my bronze cories and my albino cories (species unknown, but they are seperated just in case....to prevent hybrids, etc).
I currently have a trio of each in separate tanks, and in both tanks, if the cories spawned, the eggs would be eaten by plecos, mollies, and rasboras....so my idea was to remove the eggs and place them in a 5-20 gallon Tupperware container to hatch.
Would using a container like that work? I know the babies would need heat, and I do have heaters I could rig up to stay in the container, but filtration wise, what would be best? A lot of plants?

But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I will be unique in all the world..... You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.

Hi Taratron
I think real plants will only be in the way under the maintenance of the container.
A regular airpump with the outflow-stone (don't know specific english word for that) placed an inch over/besides the eggs will imo be fine. Some water movement is highly nessesary, but i dosn't have to be much with the bronze corys. Adjust the airpump to a moderate flow before you install it with the eggs.
5-20 gallon
perware is really big - If i read right thats 20-80 L - Tupperware will work fine if it's only for the hatching, but i would choose a container on only ½-2 gallon, and then stock the fry in a low tank for upbringing as soon as their yolk-sac is gone.
Be absolutely sure that there is not the slightest dishwashing-soap in the
perware used.

i agree with allen.. u should use a smaller container for hatching.. and raising for the first little while. i use a small container with an air stone to provide alot of water movement over the eggs and keep the fry in this container for the first week and a bit just so the fry can locate the food easily so they do not starve.
as for the bronze/alboni cory's... they are probablt the same species.. corydoras aeneus.. one is the albono of the other and it is fine if they breed together. u would just get some bronze.. and some albino fry.. or if u just want large batches of alboni.. and large batches of bronze.. keep them separated and u will do fine.
any other questions.. ask away
