Post by skitch198328 »

i bought this fish about six months ago for 10 U.S dollers i know it is an upside down catfish but i am not sure of the species it is about 7 to 8 inches long with large blue eyes and is very active, and swims upside down about 90% of the time, very friendly, also he will let me pet him on the back most of the time sorry about the quality of the pictures but all i have is camera phone any help with identifying him would be greatly appreciated .

I'm glad to see what you wrote about the personality of your syno. I just acquired a hybrid syno, which the gentlemen here who know far more than I ever will are guessing is a hybrid of the s. euptera. "Domino," as we call her very quickly became our favorite fish because of the same personality traits you described. :an: Congratulations on finding such a wonderful pet! It sounds like you did what I did and gambled on a really great-looking fish without really knowing much about it. Nice to hear that someone else got lucky, too.

Not something to be encouraged, though, unless you can at least make an educated guess at what type of catfish it is--to be frank.

thank you for that advice chrysichthys i will remember that in the future, this was my father inlaws fish he had him in with a dempsey and the jack was beating him up very badly we found him almost dead so i had to save him but thank god he recovered 100% it would have been to great of a fish to lose and i am very happy with the outcome of the gamble
