I recently set up a new Malawi rift tank. Fishless cycle that took about 3 weeks. I was wanting a Njassae for the tank, but I had heard that they were rather hard to come by and expensive-ish. Well, long story short. I went to the local fish store and noticed this Catfish swimming in an african tank. The tag on the tank said it was a Synodontis petricola catfish. But i believed it was a Njassae, so I purchased it for $9.99.
Interests: African catfishes and oddballs, Madagascar cichlids; stoner doom and heavy rock; old school choppers and riding them, fantasy novels, travelling and diving in the tropics and all things nature.
sorry, but as above says, this is a hybrid. in the uk, a genuine 3" njassae will cost (approx) a minimum of 20 pounds if you can find them. Petricola a fair bit more. Lucipinnis (the so-called dwarf petricola) can be found much cheaper. I expect that njassae & petricola fetch comparable or greater sums the world over -ergo - if it looks too good to be true it probably isn't
Lou: Every young man's fantasy is to have a three-way. Jacob: Yeah not with another fu**!ng guy! Lou: It's still a three-way!
Thanks for all the replys, I guess he is a franken-fish. You know though, he is very well behaved and social. No odd deformaties that I can see. But he does do one rather odd thing, he pretty much swims upside down all the time. I was wondering since he is basically a science experiment, will he live a long and healthy life, or is he destined to explode, or do I need to start locking the bedroom door at night, lol?

That's good ...can't reach the doorhandles, shouldn't explode unless you feed it too much flake food but should go on to lead a healthy life.
