But if they do not have any additional books to offer on the subject, why not recommend some non-TFH books? But it would not be the first company to "forbid the mention of competitors products".
However, I will attempt to make the book review just that rather than a vehicle to take a swipe at Lee's publishers.

Jools
I agree, and whilst TFH isn't my top of the list of publishers, they DO produce books about aquatics, which is better than the 99 out of 100 publishers that do not. And they do indeed list Planet Catfish in the internet resources, which is great.

Re: Lee Finley's catfish book - deleted references

Hi HH and all.

FYI - below are the book references that were with my manuscript. As noted above these were not included in the book. Certainly there are other titles that could have been included, but I tried to keep the list a bit sparse to make sure that these would make it. Oh well.

Lee

1) Burgess, W. E. 1989. An Atlas of Freshwater and Marine Catfishes. T.F.H. Publications (This classic work, while somewhat dated taxonomically, is still an invaluable reference for the catfish fan).

2) Evers, H.–G. & I. Seidel. 2005. Catfish Atlas, Vol. 1. Mergus.

3) Fuller, I. A. M. & H.–G. Evers. 2005. Identifying Corydoradinae Catfish. Ian Fuller Enterprises/Aqualog.

4) Seegers, L. 2008. The Catfishes of Africa. A Handbook for Identification and Maintenance. Aqualog/Tetra Verlag.

5) Seidel, I. Back to Nature Guide to L-Catfishes. 2008. Fohrman Aquaristik AB.

I really liked it! The green parts on some of the pages, I do nor know what to call them, but they were really good. The litle notes in green. Well, some of them were in white too. I read it cover to cover, not that it's very big or anything, more I meant I did it in one sitting and was very interested, and really enjoyed it. Great pictures also. The breeding chapter was very interesting with good pictures also. Oh, and I liked the explanation of the synodontis names from "us" to "a"

Hey,

I've just received a copy of a book and I wish to thanks to Lee Finley.
He organised everything after our talk via emails and book arrived in week to Poland from US which is a great success :).

Thank you very much Lee for all your help, your kindness, autograph and especially for a book.
I'm starting reading now :)

Regards.

I challenge anyone to read this and not find at least a golden nugget or three of information.
Do you mean to say there is information on L018, L081, and L177? :beardy:

From Jools review:
I think the cosmetics rankle so much because the book is such a great read. The trend for books, especially reference books, these days is to be “webby”, to have pictures with codes associated with them and to have many species featured with smaller photographs. This book represents the best book-based original writing on catfishes at large since Carl Ferraris published his equally personal and knowledgeable “Catfish in the Aquarium” book. No mean feat. This then is another from that stable – it is not a reference book, it is a book for reading. For me, books are for reading and the web is for reference, the book appears to me to have this distinction perfect in prose and not so perfect in layout.
Exactly.
One more bucket of water and the farce is complete.
