Amazon.co.uk states this is unavailable (from Oct '09) & there doesn't seem to be any pre-order option like on Amazon.com (?)

Hi Heok Hee and all.
HH : Thanks for making the post regarding the books availability. Dave Rinaldo also mentioned it to me last evening in an email. Of course, I was patiently waiting to hear from TFH regarding the landing of the book...silly me. But why should they bother to contact an author and/or quickly send them the author's copies that were stipulated in the contract? I called today and asked about the copies and was informed that they will be coming...when it is approved by the higher ups. This is just "icing on the cake" when it comes to this project. Nuf said.

Re: Lee Finley's catfish book
I do not know what is worse, them publishing my article and not paying me or paying me for an article that they never ran. No, the worse was them losing an article (and the photos) three times, then publishing it and never paying me. Oh well, I don't write for that company anymore, in fact I do not even subscribe to their magazine. I have tasted that icing and did not care for it.I called today and asked about the copies and was informed that they will be coming...when it is approved by the higher ups. This is just "icing on the cake" when it comes to this project.
Regardless, I will order the book tonight.

do we click on anything in the books section on this site and then just search for the specific book once it flips us to amazon? I want to make the site gets credit.

Yes, but they don't ship to Poland, and I'm trying to help worton[pl] (and anyone else that would incur exorbitant shipping fees when using Amazon). They also don't offer free shipping to Singapore, and I'll take anything that has free shipping.Amazon is free shipping within the UK - and Jools gets sponsorship money from Amazon...
Jools got a hell lot more than money out of me for the site anyway...

Absolutely understand. I was just trying to point out that for those who are indeed IN the UK, they can get it with free shipping from Amazon, which helps Jools. Sure, it's pennnies, but it's better than nothing.Silurus wrote:Yes, but they don't ship to Poland, and I'm trying to help worton[pl] (and anyone else that would incur exorbitant shipping fees when using Amazon). Yes, indeed, no argument there. I do believe the same applies for my efforts.Jools got a hell lot more than money out of me for the site anyway...

Re: Lee Finley's catfish book
Hi HH and all.
HH, the book site that you shop at is quite something what with the free worldwide shipping. I wonder who they use for delivery to the ordering country?
Those in the US know how our general mailing rates are. But the out of country rates are absolutely bleeping insane. The US Post Office is well settled in its Dance of Death, and their response is to keep raising rates as often, and as high, as they can. I have just checked a smallish stiff mailer with a copy of the book in it for the rate to Singapore. Sure, it goes Airmail but would you believe that $10.31????!!!!! is the rate. The "...blows against the empire" are certainly strong from within.
"Oh no, it wasn't the airplanes, it was the Post Office that killed the beast". The latter is a paraphrase from Carl Denham, 1933.

Re: Lee Finley's catfish book
The last couple of times I ordered from them, the books have always come through the postal system, but I believe they are using third party bulk shippers that utilize the postal system.I wonder who they use for delivery to the ordering country?
I always thought the USPS's decision to abolish surface mail a bad one. Airmail is pretty expensive regardless of which country you're in (the airmail shipping rates from Singapore to the US are comparable to the USPS rates), but at least I can get to send really heavy books to the US via surface mail. Sometimes if I'm lucky, I get a free upgrade to airmail (as stuff I have sent to the US via surface mail sometimes reaches the addressee in a week, which is the standard airmail speed). But the out of country rates are absolutely bleeping insane.

Re: Lee Finley's catfish book
The copy I ordered arrived today.
Is it me, or are the listing in the resources (books) section typical self-serving TFH crap? I mean, there are tons of good catfish books out there to serve as further reading, and all we get are three TFH books, none of which deal with catfishes.

Hi Silurus.
I will just note that five books, which in my opinion qualify as good catfish books, which were included in my manuscript were not included in the Resources section.

Re: Lee Finley's catfish book
Interesting this, while I understand why they'd not put a book in, why then put in Planet. Perhaps we're not a perceived threat to sales?
However, I will attempt to make the book review just that rather than a vehicle to take a swipe at Lee's publishers.
