Pygmy cories

Post by Allivymar »

Hi folks:

Am currently considering bottom feeders for a small planted tank and am thinking about pygmy cories. I have no experience with cories at all, although I have a basic understanding of their needs. Are the pygmys any different? Is there anything special I should know about them as compared to their larger brethren? More sensitive or slightly diff dietary needs? I checked the cat-e-log, but there was little info on them other then temp, Ph and original location.

Treat them as you would most other Corydoras (except to ensure that the food you give them is small enough, like finely crumbled pellets). Make sure the water is not too warm, though. They prefer temps in the range of 72-74°F.

Awesome. I've skimmed it and bookmarked it. Will read it again tomorrow when I'm more awake LOL Thanx Coryman!

Just FYI, I'm in the process of setting up a small planted 10g. I'm about halfway thru a fishless cycle, and have started thinking about what fish would work well. Because its such a small tank, I wanted little guys so I can add enough for them to school and be happy; figured the pygmy cories would suit the lower level of the tank nicely, but was having a tough time getting hard info on em and their quirks.

I swear I added my location when I joined. *sigh* The mind goes at such an early age (in my case I think it was 12). Will get on that now.

Thanx :)
