Aluminum Catfish

Post by nvcichlids »

I was at my lfs today and they had a catfish listed as an Aluminum catfish. It was about 2-2.5" TL. It was very sleek lined, and looked similar to a , , or ..

I guess my main question is, does anyone know of a fish of similar shape that is commonly called an aluminum catfish.

I thought "aluminum catfish" applied to :?:

The aluminum catfish I have seen for sale have been C. brachynema I think, although I am pretty sure they weren't C. longipinnis.

I thought the name applies to all members of the genus (or at least in the ornamental fish trade they are).

Thanks for your input guys, I hope that it isn't any of them because its awesome. I will post a pic (if I get a chance to head back to that FS this weekend) so you can see the fish in question.\

BTW, that hexanematichthys seemani i know isn't correct. I kept them in a 180 gallon brackish tank years ago (with other ariidae catfish)
