Formalin
I know that when using Quick Cure you should do just a 1/2 dose if you have plecos in the tank.
I am wondering if an adult pair of BN could handle a full dose of just Formalin or if you would still need to do a 1/2 dose?
How well do plecos tolerate Jungle Parasite Clear?

Re: Formalin/JPC
Thank you.
The ingredients in Jungle Parasite Clear are:
Active ingredients: praziquantel; N-[[(N-Chlorophenyl)amino]carbon 1]-2,6-difluorobenzamide; metronidazole; acriflavine.
Safe for plecos?

Re: Formalin
I have two BNs in my Discus tank which is currently being treated with Parasite Clear. I've used Parasite Clear on that tank a few years ago as well for a mild gill fluke problem. The BNs were fine then and are fine now and have not exhibited any signs of stress/discomfort whatsoever. My Julii cory is fine as well. I called Jungle first before using the med just to make sure.
BTW, my Parasite Clear, including the 2 packages I just purchased at PetSmart, have an ingredient that's different than what is listed on other's boxes and even Jungle's computer. The Jungle rep was a bit confused too about this. Mine has prazi, DIFLUBENZURON; metro and acriflavine. But the rep still checked and I was told that it was fine for Plecos, Clown Loaches, Tetras and of course my Discus. But given the different ingredient, I'd still call Jungle and confirm.

Re: Formalin
I Googled N-[[(N-Chlorophenyl)amino]carbon 1] and found it referenced in experiments looking at chemicals anticonvulsant activity.
Maybe the Jungle preparation makes fish gag?
Other than the comments of users of this Jungle Lab product I could not find a specific reference about what it does to any fish disease organisms.
I have never liked using formalin and it is often part of many Ich meds containing malachite green. It is supposed to be a synergestic combination but I prefer only malachite green for treating Ich. I have never seen the combination work any better than malachite green alone. Malachite green Ich preps do permanently stain silicone sealant blue and the combination formulas don't seem to have much color.
Formalin can help fish lice let go but I have just picked them off with tweezers and gave the fish a dip in 0.3% salt water to sooth the wounds from the lice fangs.
