today i got a porthole and royal whiptale, do portholes need groups or couples?

Most Callichthyds do better in groups, so the porthole would fare better alongside others

That's not a porthole (Dianema) but some kind of Lepthoplosternum spp

hard to see. it might even be Hoplosternum (Diasternum) punctatum, but then I really need to see the whole fish.
can you post a pic of the whole fish?

and it's best to see the difference when comparing caudal fins; the Dianema has a V tail like Corydoras; Lepthoplosternum has a rounded or truncate (squared off) tail.
