It appears that A. spinosissi has a stripe in the Caudal fin, whichis absent in A. cataphractus

I have an article on Acanthodoras about to be published in the Aquarium Gazette. It includes images and a discussion of all currently valid Acanthodoras.
There are a few differences but the easiest way to tell is if you look at the fish from above, and look at the ridge of the back between the dorsal fin and the start of the upper caudal fin ray, in A. spinosissimus there are pale spots or blotches along the ridge, whereas in A. cataphractus they tend to be lines, or nothing at all.
