Pucaila Sp.

Post by cwm »

Long time reader. First time sender.
I bought 3 . Plecos that were said to be Ancistrus Sp. Pucaillas. These were sold at the fall auction. I bought these at the CCAC, In INDY. They have spawned & 1/2 of the spawn is Albino.
Has any other had this happen.

You most likely have these if you are getting albino's in the mix...it is not that uncommon.
I myself have not heard that particular name before and a search brings no results.

Hi,

..how about Ancistrus sp. "Pucallpa"? Fits to the name you remember..
There even is an albino strain of those, bred at your side of the big pond by Stephan Tanner (see http://www.swisstropicals.com/Ancistrus ... allpa.html).
This is not to say, however, that chances are still high that it´s perhaps the normal Ancistrus Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus, as suggested by Birger.

Cheers, Sandor
