ill peppered cory help

Post by DrunkenPanda »

hi

about a week ago i started noticing that the main female peppered cory was hanging at the front of the glass and after days of watching her and reading up on stress, i have decided its best to have her out of the tank and in a hospital tank. to be honest i dont know whats wrong with her and the only signs i have to work with is a mark between the eyes on her head, hanging at the front of the tank on her side sometimes and that she is the main female that the male corys breed with and they have started totally leaving her alone.

it might seem stupid because she is only a £2.50 fish but i really dont want her to die or suffer to the point i have to kill her, so any help would be great.

thanks

I whish I could help you, but the scales on Corydoras make it hard to tell what is wrong with a fish

I only want to say that the costs of fishes are - to me - irrelevant in our taking care of them

I have fishes which costed me a fortune and got others which were far less costly. But how glad I am to have them is a fully other matter. I think, the fishes I treasure the most were 6.50 euro

a second and much younger cory has become ill and was found upside down in the main tank, so now there are two peppered corys in the hospital tank. the larger female cory seems to be still strong but now suffering from swimbladder problems and keeps falling onto her side, so if things dont improve with the treatment in the next few days i think i will have to kill her

If anyone has any ideas at all what could be wrong, please give me your advice because its getting to the point where i will try anything.

the temp of the tank is between 25 - 25.5, i feed the tank on fish flake and sinking pelets only once a day. tank mates are 3x clown loaches 1x spotted bullbog pleco 4x rainbow fish (unknown type) and 6 peppered corys.

water tests show 0 ammonia 0 nitrite and 10 nitrate and the tank has been running about 10 months now.

the two ill corys died last night and right now none of the other fish are showing signs of illness, so fingers crossed its not infectous.
