Re: my new L183
It's a very pretty fish! I think it's probably going to be L059, not L183 though. See the red in the finnage? It's hard to tell how much white trim is on the fins in the pictures. Could you take some more for us?

Re: my new L183
Yes, I'd say L059 as well, or perhaps .
is one of the easiest Ancistrus species to recognize, as it's got more dorsal rays than any other (known) Ancistrus, with 10 dorsal rays (1 hard and 9 soft rays), as opposed to 8 (1 hard and 7 soft) for all other (known) species.

Re: my new L183
This fish appears consistent with , and is more readily available in the trade than L059.

Re: my new L183
And with a decent shop, figuring out whether the fish came from Peru (or possibly Colombia) or if it came from Brazil shouldn't be too difficult.
Peru/Colombia: sp Rio Ucayali
Brazil: L059.

Re: my new L183
Hello,
Ancistrus sp. Rio_Ucayali seems to be cropping up alot in England at the moment, a LFS owner told me they are having huge difficulty sourcing "common" ancistrus and as such are stocking tankfulls of peruvian sp.Rio Ucayali priced at £5 each, this has been the case here in the southwest for the last month or so. Your fish match my rio Ucayali's exactly, and since there is a large influx of them, in this part of the country at least, I expect this is what you have,
