Hi all,
I bought this little fella about 8 months ago under the name Vampire Pleco L007. I didn't know very much then and accepted that it was L007. But recently it has been coming out more often (she always hid in a nook in a piece of wood) and just last night I got a good look at her. I believe that she is a Hypancistrus based on mouth shape and dentition. Her upper jaw doesn't hang under like all the Leporacanthicus species I've ever seen and the eyes are very big and round, not the oval-shaped Leporacanthicus eyes. Total size is just shy of 3" I think.
Any help in identification would be very much appreciated. IMO she is not H. inspector based on the lack of a black margin on the dorsal fin (which I know is a very poor basis for identification). L004 maybe? And I say "she" because she looks fat and happy from above. Any thoughts on sex would be appreciated.
Thanx much,
Josh
