can any one direct me to any Synodontis specific info on the web, or possibly book titles?
Cheers

Outside of this site, I'm not sure of a better place on the web to look for info. You can try Fishbase (http://www.fishbase.org), but the information there is frequently inaccurate.
There aren't very many books specifically catering to synos only. Aqualog's Photo Atlas has nice pictures, but the identities are often horribly wrong. The only other good book is Max Poll's revision of Synodontis, but this is a scientific work (without any information on husbandry, although it is still the best book for identifying synos so far).
