Cory Hybrids

Post by chris 1 »

Is there much chance of cories crossbreeding if a few different species are kept in the same tank?
Thanks in advance.

Depends on the species and the circumstances but yes, it can and does happen.

The more of each species you you have the less likelihood of crossbreeding taking place.

Thanks for the replies.

Would the same be true of Cories and Brochis?

I have 6 Cory gold stripe at the moment, soon to be joined by 10 pygmaeus, I don't think I'll have trouble with these crossbreeding.
I wanted to add another small shoal. Would Brochis be OK? I know they're closely related and obviously don't want hybrids.
Many thanks.

Brochis would be fine, but they do get a little larger than the Gold stripe.
