I am thinking they might be
Pimelodella chagresi odynea
or something similar. Thoughts?
Barb
PS I caught and brought back from Panama several species of livebearers, these catfish, a goby species, cichlids, 2 species of snails, and one small species of shrimp

I currently have 25+ tanks, ranging in size from 10 gallons to 240 gallons. Also, 6 above ground ponds outside. Raise many species of fish, including corydoras, farlowella's, L number plecos, bushynoses, etc. Catfish RULE!!

By the way, I brought back quite a few of them, they range in size from about 1/2" to the largest at abo 2" or so. They are very active, day and night, eat anything, peaceful and cute!

No, bringing fish out of Panama was weird! I had all the permits and the check ready for US customs. When we went through Panama customs with the fish (A huge ice cooler full AND bags in our luggage), they didn't care.
When I got to the US customs, paperwork in hand, ready to go I handed him my declarations page that the airplane had us fill out. He asked me "are the fish frozen??"
I said "no, they are live tropical fish".
He said "OK, go on"
NEVER EVER LOOKED AT THEM!!
We were told that you could bring in (6) specimens total of anything, 6 fish, whatever, per person, with no paperwork (for the US). If you wanted to bring more, you had to fill in a zillions pages of permit stuff and pay $100. Everyone else just brought back 6 fish each (dumb, as they threw back so much cool stuff!). Me, I thought for $100 and an evening before my flight left filling in the paperwork, worth every penny. So I brought back tons of stuff.
And they didn't even care! So weird.
