I bought this group of 7 recently...sold as L173's, but they don't quite look like the one in the catalog. Can anybody confirm or help me ID this group?thanks. Dan

Hi!
they are not L173 for sure!!!

It could be L400 (pretty variable in matter of coloration)
Might well be a new species too...

Cheers

That is a possibility, but I've seen two other folks that have them & run in the same problem like me...can't ID them. They've tried L287 and L236, but the patterns are just not there...they do have the body of a Hypancistrus. The L400 has a lot more markings & patterns are thinner. I would disqualify this. Here's another pic from somebody else...

Hi!
Yours are really young and at this size the colour is subject to changing... the eye size of your fish also match...still from the picture your have post still believe it is L400.
L400 has a great variability in color pattern and in the "network" of black lines...

Cheers
