More Chaetostoma eggs
More Chaetostoma eggs
Found another batch of Chaetostoma eggs in the same spot as before between the 2 clay pots. So I guess I move the Jack Dempseys again today. Last time 2 weeks ago the male guarded the eggs for 7 days then they where all gone. Any advise? The male is doing a great job at fanning the eggs.

My advice (aside from agreeing on the JD's) would be to just let the dad do his business. The fact that they laid eggs again is a very good sign, and I don't think there's much else you need to do.
If the eggs don't hatch this time either, I'd consider making the water softer (RO water). If you don't have RO water easily accessible, there's usually drinking water available in US supermarkets with very low levels of minerals (lables such as "Distilled" or "Purified" would be a hint to this).
If possible, I'd say it's a good idea to KEEP those JD's elsewhere, but that's just my opinion (and I also know the problem of not having enough tanks to actually do what you want in these respects).

The first time may have been a "test run." He may be getting the hang of it since you can see him fanning. The eggs may not have fertilized, either. Chaetostoma spp. usually need to protect the eggs from high-flowing currents in shallow, rocky water. If it doesn't work this time, I'd also recommend adding an airstone for extra oxygen, along with Mats' suggestions. Do you happen to have the water parameters handy(pH, etc)?

Friday morning will be day 5. This batch of eggs is a lot more yellow/cream then the first batch. I also noticed that the female is staying really close about 4"-5" way from the eggs almost like she is helping guarding the area. Also my 3rd Chaetostoma in the tank has got really huge in the last day. I will get some water data for you on Friday.
