Tank parameters?
What is the pH, why would you feel the need to use pH up?
What is the tap water pH?
What is the nitrite?
Ammonia?
Nitrate?
When did you last change water? How much?

thanks
I was just sitting here admiring the fish, those skunks are handsome! Gosh I wish I had the 9 or 12, but 6 is OK. I don't think I'll be able to manage to breed them, given the water I start with. The two with affected tails are hard to distingush now, the tails are growng back in rapidly. All are ...

$$$!
I'm not going to spend $300-400 to save a few $3 fish, sorry, not gonna happen. I'll give up cories first. But, the one old cory has done fine, so it is possible to keep them in these tanks, if I can get them past the shock. The store that this one came from was a "great" store, and I suspect they ...

So, environment is what beat it?
OK, that helps. If I can assume that the better environment beat it, I can figure it isn't going to come back. Big weekly water changes and low nitrates I can provide, but I can't get any better than room temp on this tank, and 80 is standard room temp here until maybe October. You see, I've lost a ...

Re: Ooops
Sorry anon...what I meant to say is that it never represented itself the same way twice. It looked different everytime I got it, but am pretty sure that's what it was. So, flexibacter is going to be my boogeyman under the bed? So, mysterious taht it's the first thing I think of? <sigh> Anyhow, the ...

I don't know if it is active anymore
Everybody seems happy and healthy now, I think that damaged tails are even growing back, I'm still watching. All fish are up and wagging around the tank. I did another 20% water change today. Shall I leave well enough alone? Or do I try to treat a bacteria that I'm not sure of with powerful ...

Was it Flexibacter?
From Aquariaworldnet.com -- Flexibacter columnaris (Columnaris disease or Saddlepatch disease) A) Gram-negative slender rods B) The disease is a serous disease of young salmonids, catfish and many other fish. C) This is a highly communicable disease. Lesions usually first appear on the caudal fin ...

I'll keep looking
I do still want more. I can get antibiotics at the local stores pretty eaisly, just the standard fish types, cheaper on line, faster at the store.
Is there some seasonality to these fish? Fall, spring?

Better again today!
All 6 are up and wagging around the tank. Barbels and fins still looking good. Guess this means the Quarantine clock has begun. 4 weeks with no problems, here we go (I hope!) PS, thanks for the fishyfarmacy link, I had found that one too. No clear path describing what was going on in the tank ...

I've looked everywhere!
Beleive me, I've been everywhere looking up info. Most fish health sites are koi and goldfish oriented, due to the cost of either easily getting into the $400 range. I've read on FishVet, PondDoc, Puregold, SkepticalAquarist, plus an assortment of other sites I can't recall. I've been looking both ...

Awk, too late
I got this advice a bit too late, but today is tank cleaning day and I'll do a large water change and redose to account for the 30 to 50% change volume. Today the remaining fish are all busy and keep dorsal fins up when resting. Two have bobbed tails and I'm watching to see if there is any decay, or ...

Tails decaying for sure
The spot obove the eye is gone on whichever fish that was. Like the angelfish bite on another it has healed. But this fin decay is real. I've isolated one fish after dippng him in the 10% H2O2 solution for 10 seconds. He survived that, I wasn't sure he would. But the tail fin is nearly gone now. Two ...

Maybe it is the same as yours
Friskey1: I'm starting to wonder if thsi is the same problem that you had. One more cory has begun to lay around too much. He has a spot of something white above his eye. Rather like the one that had the angel bite that got better. When I look at pictures of this cory I see that mine all have much ...

Re: C. Arcuatus
C Arcuatus is the skunk cory species, also called the Arched Cory. I had a similar experience with my skunk cories, and it turned out they had a very aggressive bacterial infection when I got them. It was not visible when I picked them out, but it became visible within 2 days of bringing them home ...

Day Five
The pop-eyed one was dead by morning, now 7 left, the old cory plus 6 new. Everyone is busy and they run to the back of the tank when I approach. The one with a scratch seems to be healing. None are isolating themselves as of today. clothahump: 10 gallons is all that I have to offer as a Q tank ...

. Do the corys seem any better today. One dead this morning. Total is now 5 dead of 12 purchased. I've been watching two all day. One seems to get up and get busy occasionally and when resting has the dorsal fin fully up or very nearly so. The other stayed away from the pack and held the fins at ...

Thanks, still observing
I saw your posts on that on the board and I don't think this is the same, but I'm watching. The next ones had no bruising, although the one I left in a cup overnight did look bruised by morning where he had normal coloration at the time of death. After thinking about it a while and looking at the ...

In the store's defense
In the store's defense, I special ordered these fish and when they arrived I was there waiting for the bags to be unpacked. I figured that they could stand another 5 minutes in the bag to go home with me and would benefit from skipping being exposed to the fish store's central filtration system (a ...

Same problem
I'm having the same problem. Fish arrived in shipping bags on Tuesday, by Thursday morning 4 dead, of 12 bought. One local fish store (the best in town but not where I got the fish) suggested Hex-a-mit or Furanase (suggesting it might be internal parasites or columnaris --hard to know by phone) He ...

Skunk cories -- new and dying off (long post)
Hi, sorry to burst in with a problem, I've lurked here on and off for awhile and rarely post but for a crisis. Unfortunately, I'm back in a crisis again. I just got some new cories and already 3 of 8 have died. I don't know why. Of the 9 cories I have gotten prior to this bunch, only one has ...
