Well - we had some dramas' with the 2 new (2nd hand) tanks we were getting and didn't end up with them .. Lucky really cuz we ended up buying a NEW 4ft SunSun with extra height and it only just fits in my house - there is no way the 4ft & 6ft would have fitted .. hahahaha

Little one is desperate ...

Am SERIOUSLY considering it !! Although hubby says the 3ft or 4ft has to go to pay for the new filters as he doesn't like the filtration system on the SunSun tanks and we really don't have room for 3 tanks in this pokey little house.

Will probably take your advice and get rid of the 3ft as I want ...

* 3 feet is approx 100 cms (1 metre). If you had tanks of in total 38 metres you would have the lenght of a road train :wink:

Well - it's official, I'm addicted to Pleco's !!

We currently have an 800cm (not quite 3ft) SunSun tank and last night I bought 2 x 2nd hand tanks. A 1200cm (not quite 4ft) and a 1800cm (not quite 6ft) - not sure 'where' I'm going to put all these tanks because our house is really little ...

If okay I'm gonna join this thread as I should've posted something similar before now.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who has contributed to this website, from the Webmaster, the Moderators & the Members.

The information/knowledge I have been able to obtain in the last couple of days has been amazing to say the least!! And you guys are accepting & helpful to all newbies ...

However, as long as you get something that is around the same value (don't know about Australia, but in England, Panaque maccus is definitely less expensive than Dekeyseria brachyura , and in most aspects just as nice if not nicer....

I believe there is an aussie wholesaler who got the clown and butterfly names mixed up. I'm aware of at least one retailer who was sent the wrong fish (P. maccus instead of L168 'Butterflys'), so that's quite possibly the cause of confusion in your case.

Being new to all this how else would you suggest we do it??? I tried saying 'I saw a clown pleco on a website the other day and would really like one - I ended up with a Butterfly' so clearly that doesn't work. Should I be using the scientific name ??

Am certainly eager to learn and can only do so ...

We have today been out and about checking out pet stores and different aquariums in Brisbane - ALL are of the opinion that my fish is definately an L168 Butterfly and that many people in Australia have been mislead as to the 'common' name of many pleco's available here ...

Am new to Pleco's and this forum (can't even spell Pleco right on my registeration :roll: )

My husband and I just bought a new Pleco and we asked for 'Clown Pleco' what we got didn't look like what we thought but we were advised it was an L168 Clown Pleco.

I discovered this website and ...
