They eat three baby marrows in about two to four days depending on their appetite and how warm it is.

Re: Chaetosoma L445 males sparring behavior
Yeah all of them are in and out around that big rock, but it seems the medium sized ones are the most preferred. I'll do what you suggested and report back.

Chaetosoma L445 males sparring behavior
w7HDHUY2zpc Just a quick look at my spotted bulldogs having a neighborly disagreement about who owns a particular rock. They are still very active during the daytime, and will show this type of behavior from time to time. My next plan is to build them a 3meter river setup around March and then get ...

Re: My Rubberlip Plecos (L445) are very active during the day.
Thanks Jools. I added two airstones and a strong airpump just to test, and it definitely seems the more oxygenated and agitated the water is; the more active they are. Five of the six are currently bustling about doing rubberlip stuff, which includes arguing over who has ownership of which river ...

My Rubberlip Plecos (L445) are very active during the day.
Hi! I have six of these: https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=308 They live in a 80cm aquarium, with four powerheads giving them a nice strong current, with two of the powerheads' venturis used to add extra aeration. I do twice weekly water changes with rainwater. I keep the ...

Hoi, yeah, this was fun! My first serious collecting trip, and time well spent with the master. Shane forgot to mention the Juvie crock we saw and the spider that decided to use the Landy as a nest, or was it we who parked smack in the middle of the web? I took home two male and one Female killy ...

Hokay, here are the pics of my "Autopsy"... Like I said, the female started bleeding through her skin and vent, shortly afterwards she died, and I decided to open her up. The first sign of trouble came the moment I pierced her skin, red and yellow fluids came out: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums ...

She died. She started bleeding through her skin and died shortly afterwards. I opened her up to find one of her ovaries had an infection. Her intestines seems fine, no constipation, but she had one healthy and one yellow bleeding ovary. Her swelling was because she was chock full of eggs, and it ...

Constipated Whiptail Female (Edit: Gruesome Autopsy Pics.)
I posted some pics of here under another thread, so I won't post new ones unless you guys ask me too. I placed her and the male in a tank of their own, did the rainwater thing and fed vegetable foods. I am still unsure if it is constipation or her being (extremely) gravid, but the swelling in her ...

Haha, if you get them small enough they become catfish fodder, but you are right, they are intelligent buggers, and nasty too! These three are the only ones left of about 9 that I put in. I checked again, and the largest one is allmost 2cm, and even at 1cm they bully the cats whenever they can. I ...

I also thought that it might be gut blockage. Would she stop eating because of it, because she is eating like a horse! I flipped her over, but can't see roe, but neither is there a large dark patch that I have noticed with blockages before... Also her size has remained steady for the last month now ...

Brown Whiptails Questions
Hello. I have two brown whips, a male and female (I am almost 100% sure.) Here is the male: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i178/AndGodSed/Planetcatfish/WhipMalePCF.jpg He is exactly 110mm (I measured him before posting) and has the stiff bristle like growths on his pectoral fins, head, forehead ...

If I could find one fault with this book, it would be that common fish names are only provided in Afrikans. This seems a glaring oversight given that Afrikaners make up only a small percentage of the population of the areas covered. The above is from my review of the Freshwater Fishes of Southern ...

Well, since the topic is SA fish, let me pitch in here. When I just started out fishkeeping and did not have heated tanks I kept some fish I caught locally. In some areas in south africa, especially the highveld, day and night temps could vary as much as 10 - 12 celsius. seasonally there are even ...
