Aw I'm sorry :( You know, the past couple of weeks I've been reading (on diff forums) about these really nasty cases of what people are calling fin rot (I guess cause thats where it starts, although it progresses across the body as it has in your cases). I wonder if there's a more virulent version ...

I couldnt quite figure out if you have one, but if you aren't using/don't have one, may I recommend a small QT tank for such just occasions? You can keep new purchases in there for observation for a few weeks without threatening the health of the other fish, and can treat to your heart's desire ...

Awesome. I've skimmed it and bookmarked it. Will read it again tomorrow when I'm more awake LOL Thanx Coryman! Just FYI, I'm in the process of setting up a small planted 10g. I'm about halfway thru a fishless cycle, and have started thinking about what fish would work well. Because its such a small ...

Thats it! You are a genius DeLBod! LOL Thank you.

I upped the tank temp about a week ago while acclimating a fish from QT to the main tank and have forgotten to bring the temp back down. I can just about date the change in behavior to that day.

Heh, he gets bloodworms as well. I feed the other fish: Bio-Blend pellets Spectrum pellets Tetra flake freeze dried bloodworms frozen bloodworms and he partakes of all of it. The pellets do contain spirulina as well as other ingredients, between the bloodworms and the other fish foods I would have ...

Pygmy cories

Hi folks: Am currently considering bottom feeders for a small planted tank and am thinking about pygmy cories. I have no experience with cories at all, although I have a basic understanding of their needs. Are the pygmys any different? Is there anything special I should know about them as compared ...

Dietary changes?

Howdy folks. I've an 8 inch liposarcus pardalis, who has become a veritable eating machine. Up until a couple of weeks ago, he was doing fine on a diet of Hikari Algae wafers/Tropical Sinking wafers and would scour the bottom of the tank when I fed the other fish for tidbits. I assumed at that point ...

Just to clarify S. Allen, these guys don't actually glow in the dark. They flouresce (yeah, I know, tis what they say in the articles, but thats more to hype them up and sell copy), which means they probably won't be as visible to predators as, say, an albino. Unless, of course, the predator is ...

These guys were initially used for scientific study. I guess someone got the bright (heh sorry) idea that they could be marketable to consumers as well: http://www.zygogen.com/science.asp I read about these guys on a couple of different articles. Apparently they are able to sterilise 90% of them ...

I have an 8 inch liposarcus in with a few angels and a couple of loaches. I *specifically* feed the lipo 3-4 times a week, usually Hikari algae wafers although I will alternate those with Hikari Tropical Sinking wafers. I throw in 3; two for the lipo, one for everyone else cause they think its for ...

Hiya saylaveev: I keep my QT pretty simple; bare bottom, sponge filter, air filter n heater. Currently I've a coupla new loaches in it, so I threw a fake cave and some easily sterilised plastic plants in there for cover and to reduce stress levels, but otherwise I don't want anything in there that I ...

Heh, being a NYer myself I read the NYT on a fairly regular basis, but I musta missed that one!

I'm just glad the tank is in the other room; I'd hate for my lipo to get any ideas! LOL

Whew! The markings have become more apparent in the past couple of months, and I started getting paranoid. He's always had the standard Liposarcus small dark blotches on the yellowy tan backround; it was these new lighter areas that threw me for a loop, especially since they are so regular ...

Liposarcus pardalis or... ?

Hi folks: I own what I thought was a Liposarcus pardalis, but I'm starting to wonder. Physical structure certainly resembles Liposarcus pardalis, but the markings do not. I can't get a decent picture; apparently he thinks cameras are the work of the devil and hides everytime I bring it near the tank ...

*nods at adela* I picked up a couple of plants from my lps 2 weeks ago. I loathe snails, and expressed a concern about bringing any home with me. Oh, how they assured me there were no snails in that plant tank. Hah. I was looking in the tank Thurs nite, and sure enough there is a teeny pinhead size ...

Heh, your icon is exactly they type of pic I was talking about.

To add to my question, why would handling be less injurous to a pl*co as opposed to a cichlid? Because they are armoured? Or is there a difference in the slime coat?

Satisfy a newbies curiousity

Hi folks:

I've noticed, in many pictures I've seen in the forum, the presence of someone's hand LOL

I have always thought handling the fish was a big no-no. Have I been under the wrong impression all these years? Thanx :)

How to ID my catfish?

Hi folks. New to the forum and have a question: How does one tell the difference between a Hypostomus plecostomus and a Liposarcus pardalis? I've seen pictures of both, and it *seems* the lipo has a few ventral ridges; other then that I can't tell the difference. The reason I ask is I have what I ...
