Re: Mongo's thoughts

This was always going to be a mudslinger of a topic. My views are to leave it more or less alone as long as we don't start using language inappropriate to the family friendly nature of the site. However, it is also my aim to ensure this doesn't spill over to the rest of the site and I am sure the ...

Re: Mongo's thoughts

I have read through all the posts and would just like to add my views on this. I re-introduced myself to fish keeping after a long break in late 2006. I wasnt looking to specialise in any particular species and kind of fell into Corys. After much searching around on the net, i learned of a chap ...

Re: When is tank too deep for corys?

Bit late with this one, but i have a 3ft cube discus tank with about 40 C.sterbai in it and they are perfectly fine. Ideally, if its a cory only tank, it needs to be deeper than it is tall. Ideally 12" tall and 15 - 18" deep :)

Re: Young Sterbai with no barbels

One cause of loss of barbels is caused by infection. If they are young, the chances are they could grow back. If infection is not the cause then it could be something genetic.

Have they ever had full barbels?

Is there any redness?

This is a messy discussion. First, there exists nothing like CORYDORAS VENEZUELANUS "BLACK". The fish on the picture is simply CORYDORAS VENEZUELANUS. mmm which is what i said LOL Corydoras sp. Venezuela Black is a black fish resembling Corydoras aeneus, but with a black-violet body and violet-red ...

C.aneues Black were line bred in the CR from true C.schwartzi until they got as black a cory as they possibly could. They will NOT be found in the wild at all, unless someone has actually added them to the wild LOL. As for the C.venezulans, the black bit seems to have been added onto the end by ...

i used to get these growths on my C.paleatus when i was conditioning them to spawn. Always wondered what they were. They didnt seem to cause any problems and went away of their own accord when they were rested.

Has anyone ever suffered fatalities from this ailment?

i also believe another way to tell them apart is sterbai have white spots all the way down the face whereas haraldschultzi dont. Isn't that what's been said in the Cat-eLog as well: C. sterbai have "white" spots in the face, whilst C. haraldschultzi have "black" spots in the face. -- Mats Quite ...

if after a few hours they go white then they are infertile. They should be a creamy/tranparent sort of colour. as they mature, they will become darker looking.

Hope you got some good ones and they should have hatched by now :)
