They appear to be quite hardy, although I have never let my water params slip, so this observation is basically based on the amount of food that they can eat and the waste produced. Growth is fairly slow (in my experience) with mine going from 11" to 20" in about 12 months, mind you I have never ...

They're a really nice fish .. I had two for almost a year, before having a month where I lost an awful lot of fish for no apparent reason (including an 18" tig, a 16" goslinia, 2 motoro rays, 1 P sturio, and a few others). Growth is quite slow, with my fish going from 3" to 12 in just about a year ...

I had two, I now have just the one. The largest was 22" long, unfortunately after having it for more than a year it just turned turtle one night .. it currently resides in my freezer waiting a time when I can afford a taxidermist. I bought the specimen at 19" and shan't tell what I paid for it. I ...

I have been offered a couple of 6" W. leeri.
I recognise the ultimate size, has anyone kept them before, can give me some info (feeding, growth rates, aggressiveness etc) before I commit to taking them.
cheers

they are fairly slow growing fish, so your 180 would be okay for quite a while, and they are not particularly active either. However, consider moving a 15" plus specimen .. watch your fingers. I have one at the moment that is growing about 1/2" per month, he's in a 280g eats anything, although i ...

I had one for several years, I got it as a 2" baby, and I know that it came from the continent, bought in by an importer with lots of american and european fish. I kept the fish on its own as soon as it ate a 6" bowfin that it was housed with (the wels was only 4" at the time and took 2 days ...
