platystomatichthys sturio
Does anyone have any information regarding these? such as size temperment tank/water requirments. I've looked at fishbase and would like to see if there is anyone out there taht has kept them and what advice they might have for someone considering making an aquisition thanks
They're a really nice fish .. I had two for almost a year, before having a month where I lost an awful lot of fish for no apparent reason (including an 18" tig, a 16" goslinia, 2 motoro rays, 1 P sturio, and a few others).
Growth is quite slow, with my fish going from 3" to 12 in just about a year, feeding was a bit of a problem when they were very small, but soon took chopped whitebait, earthworms and cooked prawn(I think it was prawn that actually caused my fish deaths).
They are quite sensitive to water quality and do not tolerate any increases in ammonia concentrations.
mine were always quite skittish, even at larger sizes and were always active.
