What size tank do you have?
Common's can get to 24 inches if they have the proper diet, tank size, and water conditions.
I have one almost 18 inches long.

Could it be a Clown PLeco.

Could be I've already found one book that doesn't spell it right also.

The exact scientific name is Rineloricaria Microlepidogaster.
So says the Catfish Keeping and Breeding book by Richard Geis.
The other name is what they call it in planet catfish.
It's the exact same colours, length etc. If I had a properly working digital camera I'd prove it to you.

When we bought our first pleco nearly 1 years ago. We asked how big it would get. Of course he was only 2 inches long then. They said "oh probally 3 or 4 inches" well surprise, surprise. 16 inches later.

Unfortunately we live in a world where the bottom line is most important. I'm not sure how it works where you are but here in Canada most pet stores or fish stores staff get commission. That's why they do what they do. They want to make a buck and don't really care how they do it. It's sad really.

No it look alot like a pitbull except for the length. I know it's not a Bull-Dog I've had one before

However most of the reasearch I've found states that a Pit-Bull pleco gets to be about 2-3 inches long. Mine is 6 inches and growing.

After further reasearch, and several opinions from several different fish shoppes we have fingured out that we have a pleco that looks more like a Pit-Bull Pleco then a Rhino.

Does anyone have a good picture of a Rhino Pleco. We bought one about a month ago, that at the pet store was listed as a Rhino Pleco, but after we had a visitor in our home this person said they've never seen a Rhino that looked like that.

That sounds EXACTLY like my fish. Only he's had it for almost a year and doesn't really looks or act sick. I'll take the advice of the other post and see if I can fix him,

No he's bulkier almost looks muscular. And very aggressive if another fish gets nar his stump.

Well not scale-less it looks almost like it has a disease a part of his body is missing it's the same accross his face. looks almost like the skin has fallen off. Except he's grown like that.
