I don't believe my catfish is a L-15 (P.Vittata)

Post by vookto »

Hello everyone,

About 2 weeks ago, I bought a L-15, or atl east that's the name under which it was sold me. However, the ore images I saw of L15, the less I thought my fish looked like one. That's why I'm asking if this really is a L-15, and if it isn't which species it is?

here's an image:

The main reason for me thinking is't not a L-15, is because it hasn't got stripes on it's head.

If anyone knows which fish this is, it would be highly appreciated.

Regards,

Hmm, I think my one is a bit too yellow-ish to be a panaque maccus, even though I could be wrong too.

Try looking at L-147 in the Cat-ELog.

Is that your fish?

I didn't see anything about how to keep them healthy, but I assume it's quite similar to keepingo ther peckoltia species?

Hi!

I find the bands rather larges and the fish rather light in color!!

Could eventually be L387!
A closer picture could really help
Cheers

I'll try to get a better picture, but it's kind of hard because the fish is usually hiding at daytime

Anyway, it has got spots on it's head, quite like the L147.

Whilst it's commonly confused, this is CERTAINLY not a . It's got too big eyes, for one thing. Pattern is too light too, but that's more variable than eye-size. [Yes, I used to think people were mad when they say things like "I can't tell which one it is, but the eyes are wrong for X, so it's possibly Y, or Z"].

Obviously, owning both and makes the difference very obvious. The size of eyes makes it a Peckoltia specie, and I'm pretty sure this is L147 [but Yann has good eyes too, so if he says L387, I wouldn't rule it out until we have clear evidence in either direction].

I am pretty sure it's a L147 too. Now it's been in my tank for a while, it really start to develop a more orange colour and more dark spots too. thanks for the help again all!

Edit: Does anyone know the size of an adult L147? Because if it is indeed a hemiancistrus (like some seem to think) it may grow too big for the tank he is in now

If it is indeed a L-147 (of which I am kind of convinced), would anyone know what it's size would be once it's 'grown up?' As have read different things about it's actual size..

The fish is now (finally) exploring the tank, so I hope to get a better picture soon.

Males will reach around 17-18 cm and females a little smaller maybe 13-14 cm.

Could you get more pics of this species? I think Yann could be right that it's L387.
I have just recently bought some of this species and they are certainly very similar to L147 and can be identified as that by mistake.
