Hi pureplecs, thanks for your response. It is not the one on the link :( I got the aqualog - which panaque are you referring to? (page no will help) though I've not seen anything remotely similar in the book. I think you are right, though it sounds pessimistic, that the world may never know. It was ...

 I quoted wrong on the issue of L172, the thread was about a believed-to-be L173, sorry about the typo. However as we discussed L172 look also http://www.amazon-exotic-import.de/Gallerie/L-Welse/Seiten/L%20172.htm . Now, would you have a good reference for pictures of plecs other than planet ...

Hi guys, thanks for the responses. Silurus, I have looked EVERY single picture on planet catfish and it isn't there! And of course I am referring to a Loricariid. Barbie, this one wasn't a queen aby, I know them very well, I keep a breeding colony. In fact it looked more like a zebra. The markings ...

White Catfish with black zig-zag stripes.
A couple of years ago I saw two catfish I fell in love with. They were smallish, the size of a zebra plec. The body was white and they had very thin (but clearly pronounced) black lines running in a zigzag fashion from the nose to the tail (all parallel and very symmetrical). One would think that ...

Well that was the issue! I got the one with points and that is supposed to be the L174! The L172 is the one with the lines - or so it is believed. Now the one in the first pic above has the lines, so put two and two together ... Have you got a pic of the L400 / or a website reference, cant find it ...

Hi there, I would say your first one is Ancistrus Claro and a male. Your second one is L144 and depending on the length of the caudal fin its either a long fin or the common version (I got both types. How long is s/he? They can take various amounts of time to bristle up, but at present she looks ...

Thanks for the response Silurus. Hypostomus is one of the species we considered but we found some differences in the hight of the dorsal fin, the size and shape of the head and of course his belly, which in Hypostomus is spotted and coloured. His lips look very fleshy for an Hypostomus too. Do you ...

Golden Catfish with black Spots sold as Ottoniclus
Hi all, This lovely little catfish was sold to a friend 8 months ago as an otoniclus. The fish was at the time about 4cm and is now 6cm. He is in a tank with a ph of 6,5 and kh/gh 3/6. He is usually resting or munching on wood but he also feasts on algae. He absolutely adores veggie tables. Can you ...
