sidguppy,you seem like a very smart person and a great fish keeper,but you really should try to understand that not everyone can afford a 'huge" tank,but that doesnt make us bad hobbiest either.

Take it easy,take it easy.so i guess i should turn my Oscar in to my local fish shop and hope that someone will buy him so that he can be fed and cared for as well as i do.And then what do you suggest i put in my tank??

They do grow to a foot,but that takes a few years.Hopefully i will upgrade by then.

You guys are absolutley right,it just shouldnt be done.But sometimes as humans we let curiousity,even compassion stand in the way of common sense,like i said i have been guilty of this and probably will be in the future even though i know better.

Unfortunatly this type of thing happens all the time.I myself am guilty of it,right now i house 2-3 inch channel cats,2-3 inch Oscars and a 6 inch Midas in a 55 gal tank.Needless to say within the next month will be doing some"house cleaning"Keeping only 1 Oscar and finding a nice "cat" to live with ...

Yes Silurus you are correct,based on those photos,but i've been told that they do better with bigger fish ie..Oscars,Dempseys etc...I'm sure that a near adult 4-line would devour any barbs or angel fish???Whats your opinion???

A 4-line cat and a Pictus cat??I think that the 4-line cat gets much bigger???Is this correct??Any info on the differences is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help once again Silurus,I think that i may go with a 4-line cat as they tend to put on some size and seem to be able to take care of themselves.

I have a 3 inch "Common Oscar" in my 55 gal and am looking for a nice cat to go in there with him,can a Pictus live his life out in a 55 gal tank??Thanks guys...P.S.about how big do 1 of these guys get??

I currently own 2 Blue Channels,I have a 100 gallon tank and i know this is an impossible set up,what with channels getting so large,so my question is,is there a nice catfish that i can get here in the U.S. that will grow to say 10-12 inches??Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
