Shrimp safe w/Raphael's

My intuition is absolutely not......but do you think Raphael catfish would eat live cherry/amano shrimp? I have a bit of an algae problem so I thought about putting shrimp in (Since they help so much with my 29g tank)

Re: Raphael's are very fat?

I mean I guess if they are fat they are eating at least? I feed a variety of food (probably overfeed tbh) so they must be finding leftovers.

Raphael's are very fat?

So I have a Striped Raphael AND a Spotted Raphael in a 55g. Thing is....I generally don't feed anything at night but both of them (especially the Spotted) are REALLY fat. What exactly do these guys eat? I've actually avoided doing nighttime feeding because they are so fat. Im literally not sure what ...

Re: Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!

I do worry because I worried about them eating, I try to drop in a decent amount at night before I go to bed but the spotted I really never see. They are both pretty fat however so they must be eating SOMETHING

Spotted Raphael Barely seen?

So I have 2 raphael's in my 55 gallon. One spotted/One striped. temp is at 76-77f and water params are good. Thing is I see my striped raphael quite a lot, he comes out and eats usually when food is dropped.....but I barely see my spotted unless it's SUPER late. Both are pretty chubby so obviously ...

Re: Multiple Plecos in a tank?

I keep both tanks at around 76-77. Should be fine for both I would think?

Re: Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!

Thanks. I did notice my spotted raphael is really......fat? (He came from the store that way). He's pooping and acting normal but I did read that obesity is a problem with them?

Any other good tankmate suggestions? I figure a pleco or two might be fine as long as I have hiding spots.

Multiple Plecos in a tank?

So I have a 55g right now with a single small bristlenose (and 2 raphael catfish). Im curious about adding other pleco's but I can't seen to get a good answer on if they will be friendly with each other? I mean most LFS's have multiple in a tank, and I see a lot of pictures of ones with multiple ...

Re: Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!

Thanks. I was wondering if it would be possible to fit 2 in a 55g (A spotted and a striped) provided there are plenty of hiding places. I did notice they had slightly different temp ranges (68-78 and then 73-86) so i figure 76 is a good "In the middle"? I have multiple hiding areas for them. Also if ...

Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!

hello! New member to the forum. I love catfishes so this is the place to be. Anyways I purchased a spotted raphael catfish for my 55g new aquarium. I did have a few questions regarding care since information is all over the place. 1. My Water parameters are a bit on the high ph/hard side (200ppm ...
