Re: Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
As a conclusion to this thread, the male was not fertile. I added 10 more "adolfoi" (which turned out to be duplicareus) and they are spawning as well. I have 1 female adolfoi still laying eggs but these all develop fungus every time. The duplicareus eggs do hatch. I'm also quite certain these ...

How to keep aquarium cool?
In the Netherlands we have quite a big heat wave at the moment, which we're not used to at all. As a result not many people have air conditioners so our tanks can get quite hot. Today it's going to be 37C (99F). My tank at 9 in the morning was 31C. How to prevent it from heating up further? I am not ...

Re: Duplicareus Dying. Roller Coaster Parameters or New (sick) Additions?
I doubt it was the TDS change alone that killed your fish. Duplicareus are not that delicate. Some breeders of l-numbers do quite drastic changes in TDS to get them to spawn. (Lowering it) I don't know what exactly caused it. My guess is old age and maybe shock for the other two after the big water ...

Re: Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
A little update, 3 days later none have hatched. This is likely a fertility problem. The eggs in methylene blue have all fungused. However the eggs in catappa extract water are with an exception of two all still good. This is amazing because I think none of the eggs were fertile. I have 3 females ...

Day 2. All the eggs seem good. I've never had these eggs hatch before so I'm uncertain if they are fertile.

Re: Prepared aquariums for Corydoras eggs
Looks very professional, so you just put the eggs in there until they hatch? Do you use it as a growout tank too? And do you do any water changes before or after the eggs hatch?

I hope this is working. Some pics of the cups with eggs. I'm not sure they are fertile TwoTankAmin, can you tell?
I sure do hope so, I have a total of 30 now.

Re: Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
Thanks Piotr, I will try that if this attempt doesn't work. I don't have another tank for that at the moment. This time I found 14 eggs, I separated them into two small plastic cups which float in the main aquarium. The cup is filled with a layer of 2 cm water. One cup I treated with methylene blue ...

Re: 300L - Can i keep these plecos together?
I have no idea, as I have no experience with those species. I understand your hesitation though, zebras are expensive. There is always aggression to worry about. Have you also thought about food competition? If the ranunculus are possessive with their food and beat your zebras to it the zebras might ...

Re: 300L - Can i keep these plecos together?
You probably could, but if you want them to display their natural behavior I would go a little bigger. Right now I have 5 adult L121 in a 80×45×45 and I personally find this too small. I'm thinking of selling two or getting a bigger tank. You would not be severely overstocked or anything though so d ...

Re: Anyone keep corydoras pygmaeus in hard alkaline water?
I kept corydoras adolfoi in ph8 gh 11 for over a year. This was my tap water. I think they did ok but some did lose their barbels (which is probably caused by something else) I now mix RO water with tap to get more suitable conditions. My ph is 7 and gh 5. They are definately happier with this water ...

Re: L200 not eating propperly
I would suggest to not be afraid of overfeeding. While I was getting my corydoras in spawning condition I 'overfed' quite a bit. This is when I noticed my l121 getting more active and eating more. Now I feed them much more and they eat much more too. They are even growing slightly even though I had ...

Re: Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
Yesterday got another 10 eggs. This time put them in the egg tumbler. Now, a day later, these eggs are covered in fungus as well. Is it possible my fish are just too old? I got them from a breeder who stopped breeding them. He said they were wild caught so they probably close to 5 years or older. I ...

Re: New RO machine for L121 and cories, need help
Have been doing water changes with rougly 80/20 RO to tap ratio. Very happy with the result. GH is 4 and PH is 6,5-7. Fish seem to be happy with it since the L121 come out during the day every now and then and my corydoras adolfoi have started spawning again.( this might also be due to more and more ...

Re: Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
I don't get it. Today there are only four eggs left. Somehow the live eggs get fuzzy with a thin layer of fungus and I guess the snails eat them. What could be the cause of this? My guess is either tiny particles in the water (main filter broke, had to install internal filters) or too little water ...

Re: Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
Today I found 9 more bringing the total to 11. So far no fungused ones. Hopefully they hatch, because that would be a first for me. If they do I plan to feed 'filter sponge grunge' (for the micro-organisms), baby artemia, crushed food, and repashy. Sadly I don't have microworms, but I think this ...

Corydoras adolfoi surprise eggs
I've been feeding lots and high quality foods to get my 4 adolfoi in breeding condition and apparently it worked! Today I siphoned the sand to remove my l121 poop and while emptying buckets in the sink i found 2 eggs between the poop. They have laid eggs before but usually on plants or glass, didn't ...

Beautiful fish you have! Any luck in breeding them yet? I have five of these (bought as L121 but extremely similar to yours) two years ago. Any way to tell the female from male without catching them? I suspect I have four males and one female, but photographing her belly in the dark when she's ...

Re: Prefilter yes or no?
@Bas Thanks for the input. I'll do some research on mattenfilters. I think I should have specified a bit. My tank is 80x45x45cm (about 160l) and my filter has a 950l/h flow (says eheim). On top of this there is a small powerhead installed. I have 5 peckoltia braueri L121, who are producing most of ...

Prefilter yes or no?
I've been reading about sponge pre filters and can't quite figure out why or why not. Currently I don't have one but my canister filter gets dirty quickly. I clean it every two weeks to a month. A lot of pleco poop gets sucked up but I siphon the tank at least once a week to get the rest. With a pre ...
