Got some pictures of this elusive catfish, Hemibagrus menoda . Probably the first time in my hobby knowing about this fish being collected. I hope you all share your experiences on this species, as I haven't had the privilege to keep any Hemibagrus , let alone menoda.

odd protrusions on erethistes
hi all as you know my sisorids are well and good.but yesterday i noticed that my glypto indicus and erethistes puslius had slight round protrusions on both sides right below the pectoral fins (the are equivalent to the position of latissimus dorsi in humans with respect to their arms). What are ...

Re: Glyptothorax ID
I suspect this one photo is not sufficient for ID, except maybe by an expert.
Cheers, Eric
Got a (hopefully) way better one.

If the body is nearly uniformly dark, then I'd say this is Glyptothorax indicus .
It does look like indicus, and I'm not any expert ...

Glyptothorax ID
Can anyone help ID this Glyptothorax? It is incredibly secretive, hiding among Cryptocoryne all day. WIll try to post a lateral shot later.

Glyptothorax requirements
I recently acquired a glyptothorax (granulus?) for my tank. My tank temp is at 26 degrees and has moderately strong current.it has taken to bloodworms. Do I need to make sure of anything to make sure it won't slowly die?

Mystus tengara compatibility
Hi all... As you know from my previous post my sisorid catfish die off was the worst possible thing to happen. So i plan on converting the tank to a bare bottom tank (perhaps with potted plants or a little island of plants). Question is, can I release a trip of mystus tengara or mystus carcio to ...

Re: Sisorid catfish die offs
So i lost my pseudolaguvia riberoi too, and one symptom I noticed was that the barbels were all noodly and not at all stiff. Now that i recall, most of the others had lost stiffness in their barbels too. They usually lost their appetites a day before death.

Re: Sisorid catfish die offs
If nitrates and ammonia were normal, I'd consider sulfur gas poisoning. How deep is your gravel? Do you ever stir it?
Substrate is 3.2" At the deep end cus I have a variety of crypts. I just gravel siphon the unplanted areas, never really stirred. If it's indeed H2S poisoning it would explain ...

Re: Sisorid catfish die offs
I'm sorry for your loss. That's really heart breaking.
I'm curious... with the first fire off, how quickly did all the fish die? Hours? Days? Weeks?
Regards, Eric
Once they started showing the aforementioned symptoms, it was a matter of hours for the affected individuals. The total die off ...

Sisorid catfish die offs
I posted about an year ago about my sisorid cats collection, and I was very proud of it. With all those erethistes, pseudolaguvia and glyptothorax I felt I was doing something right keeping these cats for such a prolonged period of time. Like Icarus, I too flew too close to the sun when I bought ...

Re: My Sisoridae catfish collection - Update
Lost an otto, a shawi, a jerdoni and a pusillus and some tetras and barbs overtime (Also my adopted Julii cory has chronic barbel rot persisting before it came to my tank). Recently restocked with 14 new Pseudolaguvia consisting of 3 species I bought from Andrew Rao.

Re: Glyptothorax dorsal fin spine injury
Sounds as it is a secondary infection of some kind.
Usually, the skin will heal by itself, but something has to be causing periodic inflamation. In cases like this I usually check all my water parimeters first even if the fish(s) are appearing to eat. Have you checked your water and if so can you ...

Re: Possibility of Keeping Pseudolaguvia in planted tank
The tank looks perfect for these fish. You could consider adding more plants, this would suit the Erethistes and the Pseudolaguvia . What's the water temperature like?
Thanks.
The barren area is actually planted with Tissue Culture Cryptos... They will fill in within 2-3 months.
The ...

Possibility of Keeping Pseudolaguvia in planted tank
I have a two feeter newly set up low-tech planted tank. It has been 3 weeks and the filter media is old. The want doesn't have a strong current... The filter is a chinese HOB where the output is vertically downwards. The water is well oxygenated. It already has E. pusillus and G. telchitta. Will it ...
