If you were interseted, those fish wern't for the aquarium trade, their young were.
How is that? i hear you ask, it is a loop-hole in our government that if you smuggle an animal into the country and you are able to breed it, you can sell its young legaly. That is because the young are Australian ...

Australian customs seizure

Well, this just goes to show it's important to buy your cats from a reputable source. It's probably just the tip of the iceberg so far as fish smuggling is concerned and it shows that at least in some places there's enough demand in certain species to make it worthwhile.

They look like L333 in the ...

Everyone else has had a go so I might as well! :?

I'd stick with having 6 black neons and keep an Otocinclus affinis too. It'd appreciate a bit of current. With some bog wood and some Amazon plants that'd hopefully be OK stocking-wise and would have a nice theme too.

Just my tupence though.

What is the yellow rock like in texture? Does it appear to be sandstone (looks obviously like lots of sand stuck together)? Did the yellow come off in your hands when you held the rock, or did it seem quite hard?

On the metal veins, how would you describe their colour? Black with a violet tinge ...

I would say C. Bilineatus. They have three proper horizontal lines whereas C. Elegans has one proper upper line and a lower "smugged" line which is quite wide. Still, that's all in my humble opinion, so hopefully one of the old hands will confirm or deny this :)

Unlike Corybreed I'm no expert but for what it's worth: I concour. C. septentrionalis looks most similar but your fish look longer and their eyes look, well, odd. Could just be artefacts of the photos though. You could look at C.Ellisae as well. Have fun with them whatever they are :D

Your L059 looks similar to this picture:

Yours doesn't look as black though and I can't see any orange spots. Maybe yours needs a bit of time to settle-in before he'll show his best colouration? I do hope so, as the transfish.de fish is one of the most ...

I can't say I'm best pleased either, having found out that Three Valleys Water also uses phosphates to reduce lead poisoning. Then again, people, in my most humble opinion, should come before fish. After all, it's not as though it's impossible to remove phosphates, and they won't (so far as I know ...

I've just looked up the figures and British water companies are allowed upto 2.2mg/l of phosphorus (doesn't seem to specify in what form) in the water at the customers' taps.

Start the campaign to remove all lead pipes

Water companies adding Phosphates?

I've just been speaking to one of my lecturers about a thesis on improving software that maps pesticide spread in watersheds; software that the Uni originally designed for the water company Severn Trent. (:) doing work for once!)

Anyway, we got talking about Severn Trent and apparently they ADD ...

I used to keep Killifish in a 20 gallon tank and used about 3litres of peat loose in the tank. It certainly made it go a dark brown colour, but that was so much the better.

I don't know how much the peat weighed; all I can say is that it is very light when dry! I used gardening moss peat that was ...

Not quite sure what an iridescent shark is but here are my thoughts for what they're worth anyway..

Getting hold of dark substrate

Alright there.
I'm currently using fairly common light-coloured sand and gravel in my Cory tank. I would like, however, to change to substrate with a darker hue.
I can get hold of black glass-gravel, but it is very spikey and wouldn't be good for barbels at all, although it's about the right grain ...

Good Afternoon from a newbie

Well, hello everybody. Just registered, so here I am.
I keep five Corydoras Aeneus (just the 'natural' colouration) in a 30" tank with a school of Neons. I've had them for a couple of years and they've just had their first breeding foray. I know they aren't the sexiest of cats but I don't care, I ...
