Re: Hoplisoma osvaldi, new species, Urkumayu, new genus
And I'm sure you're all on it already, but it looks like the Cat-elog for H. osvaldi might have some copy-paste errors in it. As I'm sure it's not from Lake Tanganyika nor "Could be confused with Synodontis polli"

Re: Shrimp safe w/Raphael's
My assumptions would be that they would eat the shrimp, but my experience suggests that maybe cherry shrimp aren't terribly tasty. The shrimp happily munching away outside of the caves holding 3 of 4 raphaels in this tank PXL_20240914_032543256.jpg Another shot just showing more of the shrimp ...

Re: New 33 gallon long (4 foot) tank with waterfall and kinon
adjusted the color to a faint blue. My main light bar doesn't do an evening sunset fade, so it's either on or off. My Tatia and Microglanis are very nocturnal so I don't see them in the daytime. I'm hoping the light bar will allow me to see the fish at night without disrupting their behaviors. That ...

@OregonOutdoorsChris will you be at FIN-DIG 2024 in Sacramento this weekend (June 22-23) or Fishtoberfest in Portland on Sept 28-29? I'll be at both, and speaking at Fishtoberfest. If you make one or the other please introduce yourself to me. I enjoy meeting other PlanetCatfish people. There's zero ...

Re: New 33 gallon long (4 foot) tank with waterfall and kinon
I'm excited to see how this turns out! I tried doing something similar last year. PXL_20221212_055330693.jpg I got about 9months of decent plant growth but it ultimately ended in failure. Don't try using coco coir wrapped around egg crate light diffuser as a jump start of your raft. The coir decays ...

Re: Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!
Yeah, they're normally chubby and also prone to over eating. I've always got the worry in the back of my mind that this might mask the early stages of bloating, but I've been fortunate to not have to deal with that yet. As far as other good tank makes, the list really is endless. If it doesn't fit ...

Re: Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!
I would think two should be fine together in a 55gal. Mine never cause any harm to each other, at most the occasional tail slap or head butt seems to be all that's needed for the bigger fish to tell the little fish to move. I think corys are a fantastic tank mate! Since corys don't use hides, there ...

Re: Spotted/Striped Raphael Questions!
1. They prefer softer water, but they appear to be rather robust, with one of the raphaels I rescued was living ~15years in what was tantamount to brackish water (tank was heavily encrusted with salt scale), and it acclimated to my more neutral water with no hint of an issue. So your parameters are ...

This happened on both Chrome on PC and Chrome on Android.
Interestingly, now if I log out, I am able to log back in through that path without the error.

And here's the update I had planned to make, I have reached 1 year of having my perugiae tank restarted. I've been taking a weekly photo to document the changes over time. There's nothing special or dramatic and the catfish stay hidden, but it's a project I've been diligently sticking to so I'm ...

It's been a while since I've shared any updates, life has been busy and progress in the fish room has been slow. That said I got a surprise sighting of my Microglanis tonight which I figured I'd share. I had withheld pellets from the tank for a few days, and apparently the flakes weren't to its ...

How about the common bullhead does not get very large Jeanne I come across Cottus gobio while searching the internet, is this the one you are talking about? They're likely referring to Ameiurus , and not the sculpin. You previously mentioned Corydoras paleatus , another option might be Scleromystax

Morning of Day 16: PXL_20221013_163958194.jpg the late evening of day 16 the eggs were still in place, but by the next morning they were all gone. Presumably hatched. But a search of the tank turned up nothing, and being they share this tank with six pictus cats and far too many corys, I wasn't ...
