Re: Could this be Pinirampus pirinampu?

There is no min nor max. The main thing is to keep it species specific. I would be happy to edit and/or support. The blue jumper is important to write about as what there is limited yet it has appeared for years and years in export lists.

Re: What are our sources for catfish located in the Egombé River?

This would have been input by @MatsP or Birger. It could be a mistake for Ogôoué but I think, looking at it, it appears to be bad data. I can't check book sources ATM but I'd go to Seegers and Poll to check if I could.

Re: Odd Glanidium...or maybe Tatia?

I can't recall why we ended up putting these in Glanidium - happy to move to Tatia and add that new common name. Yes, I agree, I do think 1 and 2 are the same species but one is from a 1990s picture taken in Peru by an exporter and the other is from the well documented import of these into Pier ...

Brilliant updates again, thank you Halvard! I have downloaded all the images (from the titanic pleco) to the ones immediately above. Now, I can add them easily over the next week or so. I have taken some time to do this, please don't think my enthusiasm is waning - it is not! I am just quite busy ...

Re: Perspective: Finding economically beneficial ways to use invasive Pterygoplichthys

I do like the idea of pleco satay and enjoyed seeing the picture of it. However, the paper talks about sustainability and I would have thought the aim of utilising invasive species in these ways would be to make money while eradicating them. Eradication of your source material is not a good business ...

I think we published L066 in 2000 or so, plus Ingo's seminal work earlier than that.

Re: New Hypancistrus

Good discussion. Before I read it, or the paper (thanks Eric), I went to sexual dimorphism. Those around when L080 was introduced will remember it being imported "hairy" even at quite small size. Indeed, Ingo's original photos of it here show that very well. It was one of the first L-numbers bred in ...

Re: Interesting behaviours of Spatuloricaria

Are there many gut analysis papers for this genus? I wonder what they are digging into in the wild. I figured larger insect larvae, but it could be snails or as wild as crustaceans. Do you think they are finding food in the substrate or in the "nooks and crannies" of a hardscape? My only experience ...

Yeah, I love this fish (one I collected) and agree with all of the above. They do need sparkling water - by that I mean decent DO. There's a spawning report in Baensch, catfish atlas.

So Mike from AquaImports finally got another batch in: To me looks to be the same fish species as Rpul's. Please help us ID the species or at least determine if this is P. p. or not? This is caused by third-party sites not providing data (quickly) to check against cat-elog data. So, it can be variable.

I am seeing the same problem - I will see what I can do.

What characteristics are you using to determine the ID? I have no reason to doubt the ID but if we're going to really get into it, a good start would be what you see and think about the fish now.
