Re: Is aquarium salt safe for BNs
Generally speaking; salt & bottom dwellers don't work together. Corydoras & their cousins seem to be unable to tolerate the salt. Plecostamus & their cousins seem to be able to tolerate it in small amounts if they are very healthy - but based on my experience, I wouldn't bet a favorite fish on it ...

Re: CORYDORAS EXPERTS! Will these Hybridize? Dwarf Corydora x Dwarf Cory, or x Aspidoras
Most Corydoras do not cross breed if they have male-female of their own species. Some Corydoras combinations do not produce viable off-spring when they do not cross breed. With that said, I've never heard of a Corydoras cross breeding with Aspidoras. I suppose it would be possible, but I seriously ...

There are other small corydoras as well. Just off the top of my head, I can think of Corydoras cochui.
C. gracilis & C. panda are a little larger but still smaller than the common Corydoras such as C. Aeneus.

I've been on this forum for a while now. I've posted a few times. I'm not shy about expressing my opinion, but I also know I'm NOT an expert on much compared to folk around here. Re: PYGMY CORY EATING SNAILS-Unusual behaviour?
Never seen corys eat snails and I've kept thousands of corys. Snails will climb to the top and then just let go and float down. Corys might inspect because they are always curious. Corydoras pygmaeus usually are in mid-water area, where they are even less likely to find snails than most corys. Like ...

Re: Pygmy cory vs lava rock and cyclops.
My favorite dither fish is an endler. They eat very few fry, even shrimplettes. They are usually near the top, but will swim all over in a shallow tank (most of the standards 55 gallon and under). They reproduce rapidly and if you lose a few to other fish, it's not a big deal. They'll eat almost ...

Re: Can I keep Corydoras pygmaeus and habrosus together
I have not heard of pygmy corys and hasbrosus interbreeding. I currently have some pygmy corys in a tank with some aspidoras. Like a post above said, the pygmy corys tend to be more mid-water than most corys, so there doesn't seem to be a problem.

I also ordered some pygmy corys last year. They can be delicate and I also lost some. I still have 6 and am about to rehome them in a heavily planted 55 gallon tank along with 20 Otos and a few dozen neocaridina. I believe I will be able to watch the corys and the otos breed. No guarantees, but I ...

Re: 10 gallon cory question/problem
As MChambers said, it's hard to predict how corys will behave. Some seem to like to be in the front of the tank and others like to be on the sides or back and some like to hide. It doesn't seem to matter about the species either. I have had aeneus that would run and hide every time I walk by and ...

Re: How to add cooler water?
If the fish are ready to breed, they'll often breed within a few hours of the water change that lowers the water temperature - usually lowered about 3-5 C. If they do not breed right away, let the temperature come back up and try again. That's the conservative approach I have used for hundreds of ...

Otos are a schooling fish - they are happiest when in groups of 5 or more.
They will ignore almost all food IF there is algae available. But some algae flakes/tablets are always a good idea. Watch and see if they eat them. If not, save them for another vegan later.

Re: How important is is for Corydoras melanistius to be with the same cory to be happy?
We all know that Corys are schooling fish but their definition of "schooling" sometimes stretches out further than some schooling fish. With that said, they don't usually school with different cory species but they also don't avoid other cory species. Depending on the tank size, they may spend more ...
